Sunday Worship In-person and Streamed Online at 10am

Anti-Racist Film Club

Have you heard that ARFC has a new schedule? And we're NOT taking a Summer break!

Instead of Thursdays, Anti-Racist Film Club will now meet on second Monday evenings @7pm over Zoom. And our in-person screenings will be offered the day before (Sundays) @12:30pm here at First Olympia. We are also glad to provide a light lunch at each of our screenings. There's also popcorn!

We hope that our new schedule will give folks who've wanted to join in discussion but have had schedule conflicts a new chance to participate. All are always welcome!

Our film this month is Bend It Like Beckham (2002). Written and directed by Gurinder Chadha, this is a coming of age sports movie about Jess—a young girl who dreams of becoming a professional "football" player. Unfortunately, Jess's family (British Indian Punjabi Sikhs) have a more traditional vision for their daughter's future. So, unable to sacrifice her dream, Jess sneaks behind her parents' backs to join a local women's team and begins to navigate between the worlds she loves. Click this link to watch a full trailer.

This is a PG-13 film with light profanity. Parent discretion is advised.

Our June Schedule looks like this:
  • Sunday, 6/9 @12:30pm - Bend It Like Beckham (2002) screening at FUMCO, lunch provided.
  • Monday, 6/10 @ 7:00PM - Zoom film discussion
