Anti-Racist Film Club

Our May selection is The Wind Rises (2013).

Directed by Hayao Miyazaki, The Wind Rises (2013) is about the legendary Japanese airplane designer, Jiro Horikoshi. As a young boy, Jiro dreamed of being a pilot but, because of his terrible eyesight, he's forced to pivot his studies to aeronautical engineering. The film chronicles Jiro's career, the historical events he lived through, and his complicated relationship with the looming threat of WWII. This film is rated PG-13 for language. Parent discretion advised.

We'll be showing the movie upstairs at First Olympia UMC in The Gathering Place on Sun, 5/18@12:30pm. There will be a light lunch provided before/during the screening. There will also be popcorn! Our discussion will be held the next day on Monday, 5/19 @7pm over Zoom.

If you're interested in either of these events, please RSVP here:
