Support Our Youth's Confirmation Journey

This past fall we invited some of the teens from the Tumwater and Olympia UMCs to begin the Confirmation journey together. Confirmation is a rite of passage for young people, an opportunity to spend a season of deep focus on their faith lives and that concludes with an invitation to join the church as a full member. Many of us were baptized as infants, the adults in our family and our church community promising to raise us in our faith. In Confirmation we say yes to the promises made and held for us: yes to sharing our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness with our faith community, yes to Jesus and to a continued life of faith. 

Recently, a couple of our youth embarked on a day long spiritual retreat. We prayed together, ate together, and explored various spiritual practices and claimed our spiritual gifts.

I invite you to pray for our Confirmands: Emma, Jason and Carter, as they continue this season of discovery and discernment. Should they choose to say yes to becoming church members we will celebrate this next milestone of their faith journey on the feast of Pentecost (Sunday May 28).
