Our NEXT worship Series: Tender Mercy

Our next worship theme and stewardship campaign is entitled, Tender Mercy. Our church and our world have seen so much change recently. The pandemic, America's contentious political climate, amplified reckoning of our nation's racism, more frequent and more severe natural disasters, and an (almost) complete turnover of our church's staff are just a few of the dynamics that have affected and changed us whole-scale.
After traumatic and challenging dynamics like these, don't we need some tender mercy? We think so. Our grounding scriptures for this theme are Psalm 23 and Luke 1:68-79. The Luke scripture ends with this line: "By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."

We hope in this time of tender mercy that we take a look at the challenging side of life, while clinging to a word of hope which serves as a balm against our weary souls, so that we can honestly ask ourselves:

- What does it look like to be good stewards of God's good gifts in light of all of *this?*
- Do we really trust that the dawn will break upon us? That God has good things in store for us?
- If so, how can we (individually and collectively) participate in its manifestation?
