FUMCO Staffing Sumer 2023
They say the only constant is change and that seems to be true when it comes to staffing at FUMCO right now. We said good-bye to Susan, our Office Administrator, as she leaves us for sunnier skies in Texas. While we are sad to see Susan go, we are also blessed to have Patty Upton and Cathy Bennett job sharing the Office Administrator position!
You might remember that Cathy worked in the office last summer and she is glad to be back on Mondays and Tuesdays. Cathay brings her cheerful smile, her long relationship with the church, and her organizational skills to the church office. Cathy was a delight to work with last summer and we are all so glad to have her back in the office!
Patty also worked in the office last summer and has been back in the office since January. She has been working as Facilities Administrator and getting our facilities office organized. She transitions into job sharing with Cathy and will be in the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Patty brings her compassionate heart, her ability to see with fresh eyes, and her task focused skills to the church office. We are so glad that Patty will be continuing in the office in this new job sharing position!!
In addition to Patty and Cathy, you might have noticed that Barry Upton has been working around the church. He is our Interim Building Manager. Barry works closely with the Trustees on regular maintenance and upkeep of the building. He has organized all of our keys (a monstrous task), schedules contractors, and keeps the building running smoothly. We all appreciate Barry’s knowledge, wisdom, and hard work!
Earlier in the year, Morningside, a non-profit organization that helps adults with disabilities find work, approached us and asked if we might have a custodial job for one of their clients. Randall started work in March and cleans around the office for two hours a week. She is great at doing laundry, washing dishes, and cleaning toilets (one of her favorite tasks!) Randall brightens the office with her smile and excitement about cleaning.
Finally, FUMCO will be hosting TWO college interns this summer. Savannah Hemmings will be working with Pastor Alexa on Young Adult Ministry (you will also see her in the office on Sunday mornings!). Gwen Bayer will work with Pastor Heather on building community partnerships and specifically on doing a feasibility study around houseless mitigation and FUMCO property!
Stay tuned for more information about our summer interns and FUMCO staffing. Thank you to the congregation for supporting all of FUMCO’s staff and being such an amazing congregation.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Heather
