A Congregational Care Announcement
Jesus gives us the commandment to “love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12). There are so many ways we live out this call. We gather together in worship and lift each other in prayer. We eat together around the communion table and around the fellowship table at events like Affinity Nights. We bring meals to each other, call with a kind and caring word, we send cards and visit so that people feel less alone.
Much of this work is done organically as a part of the Body of Christ at work in the world. But we also need a system to ensure that care is happening regularly and for all people who need it. As a part of FUMCO’s caring and visitation ministry, we are starting a Congregational Care Team to cultivate the gifts of care and visitation within our congregation.
The Congregational Care Team will work closely with the pastors to participate in the care and visitation of people within our church. There is a role for anyone who is interested ranging from sending cards to people all the way to doing hospital visitation. Training will be provided and there will be a system of regular check-in and equipping for the ministry.
If you are interested in being a part of this ministry, our first informational meeting will be on Wednesday May 10 as a part of our Affinity Night offerings. If you are interested please join us on May 10 at 7:00 pm. You are also invited to come to the Affinity Night potluck at 6:00 pm. God so loves us and calls us to love others in tangible ways. Will you come learn more about this important ministry?
