Faith Network For Immigrant Support

The Faith Network for Immigrant Support (FNIS) is a community group from Lewis, Mason, & Thurston counties that was formed last year in response to the need to peacefully support the rights of Immigrants and Refugees in our area. We meet every 3rd Sunday, currently at St John San Juan Episcopal Church (114 20th Ave SE, Olympia, WA) with our next meeting Feb 15th 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm, and anyone interested is welcome!

We had an Immigrant Support Walk/Vigil last Fall in downtown Olympia with Pastors and a Rabbi speaking to raise community awareness, and FNIS has started a Fund that is available to immigrants & refugees in need, which has funded attorney consultation, clothing/boots for a young adult who needed special items for employment, and prepaid phone cards for ICE facility detainees routed by Advocates For Immigrants in Detention Northwest. The intent of the fund is to reimburse organizations, not individuals; individuals who want support should make requests through an organization (e.g., nonprofit, faith community). Thanks to Susan Kavanaugh for leadership of the Fund Board. At the next FNIS meeting the group will set date(s) for All Faith Communities protest for immigrant rights. There is also a new Community Events Calendar: https://calendar.northwestindivisible.org/ that lists all of the upcoming Immigrant/Refugee support events in our area.
