A Message From Pastor Heather - Pledge Cards

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” (Colossians 2: 6-7).

This coming Sunday is the last week in our “Here is the Church” worship series. This series has been such a delight for me as each week I get to celebrate what an amazing church you are! You are faithful, passionate, compassionate, committed to justice, and wise. You inspire me each and every day!

We will also be collecting our pledge cards for 2026 and praying over them.

Our annual pledge campaign is an opportunity for each of us to prayerfully consider our financial contributions to the church for the coming year. These commitments help the Finance Committee craft a budget and plan for expenses. If you are not ready to turn your pledge card in this Sunday, we will be collecting them through the end of January. The pledge card is exactly that—a pledge or commitment. It is what we expect or plan to give for the coming year. It is a prayerful “yes” to God and the church. A pledge card is not a promissory note or a contract that cannot be changed. We recognize that life circumstances change and we honor that.  Please don’t feel like filling out a pledge card obligates you to the amount on the card. We ask that you hold this commitment as a prayer, and stay in continual prayer and discernment throughout the year as needed.

Poet theologian and neighborhood-ian, TIm Soerens, says that the church is the hope of the world. I believe this with my whole being. God established the church, the gathered community, to share Christ’s love with the world. That love, agape love, is healing, justice-oriented, compassionate, transformative, and redemptive. When we are living out our mission to be God’s hands and feet in our neighborhoods, the world is made a better place.

Our pledge cards are one way we show our commitment to that mission. Your annual giving make the Little Free Pantry possible. You make it possible for the church to say “yes” to Madison School when they come to us with a need. Your giving makes it possible for the church to host the annual rummage sale which gives thousands of dollars to local partner organizations. You make it possible for us to host PFLAG, Rebuilding Together, Oly MAP, local Girl Scouts, Masterworks Choir, AA, and other non-profit organizations. You make it possible for FUMCO to have a youth group where all kids can find belonging. Your giving allows FUMCO to disciple the kids in our Kid’s Ministry. There is so much more. Too much to name! Your giving helps this church be the hope of the world. Thank you!
