National Write A Will Month
We will not hide them from their children; we will tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord and his might and the wonders that he has done.
Psalm 78:4
No one likes to think about death, but as Christians, we find comfort in a different story—a story of hope, resurrection, and eternal life. God promises that our time on earth is the beginning of our story, not the end. We trust in God for life after death.
But here on earth, God trusts us to steward our resources well so that the church can continue telling a story of hope and resurrection for generations to come. One way to do this is through legacy giving. Honoring the church will provide income that equips the church for years to come. Your gift allows the church to continue the work of loving people and being the presence of hope in our neighborhood.
August is National Make-a-Will Month, an initiative meant to encourage people to write or update their will. Even though most Americans understand the importance of having a will, 68% do not have one! Without a will, the state decides how your assets will be distributed after your death. A will ensures that your wishes are honored. In March, we will have a speaker from the Faith Foundation Northwest coming to talk about writing a will and remembering the church in your estate.
As we get closer to March we will update you with dates and times for this opportunity. In the meantime, we encourage you to reach out to Pastor Heather or Carolanne Brown if you have questions about leaving a legacy gift to the church through your estate.
Know, therefore, that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who maintains covenant loyalty with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generation
