Support InterFaith Works

Why I Support Interfaith Works Financially and Otherwise
by Judy Mason, FUMCO’s Interfaith Works Program Council Representative

The Bible tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves and clearly demonstrates that God’s abundant grace and love extends to everyone. Interfaith Works affirms the dignity of each person and every faith tradition, builds racial and religious equity, creates bridges of understanding among us. Their mission is to promote social justice and peace through interfaith understanding and cooperation.

In our community Interfaith Works is providing shelter, housing and support services to the homeless which certainly demonstrates caring for one’s more vulnerable neighbors. You may have read about recent government cuts to such programs, which is why I urge you to consider celebrating the work they do by making a donation and/or attending Interfaith Works annual Garden Party money maker from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday June 26th at Huber’s Gasthaus (2312 Friendly Grove Road NW, Olympia, WA 98506).

There will be games, refreshments and a program. Tickets are $20 and can be obtained at the Interfaith Works website www.interfaithworks.org under Events.

In other Interfaith Works news the next Compassionate Meditation will be on Tuesday June 24th at 7:15pm at the Saint Placid Priory (500 College Street NE, Lacey, WA 98506).
