Sunday Worship In-person and Streamed Online at 10am

Anti-Racist Film Club Screening

This month, ARFC will be screening the chilling documentary Sugarcane (2024) which covers an investigation into the St Joseph Mission School near the Sugarcane Reservation in Canada.

Through interviews with the remaining survivors of the Indigenous boarding school, Sugarcane explores a network of families reckoning with the abuse and institutional racism of the Catholic church. It is an intimate reminder that the atrocities committed in and outside our history books have consequences for real people.

This film is rated R for subject matter. Please do not bring your children.

We'll be showing the movie upstairs at First Olympia UMC in The Redwood Room THIS Sunday, January 11th @12:30pm. There will be a light lunch provided before/during the screening. The discussion will be held the next day Monday, January 12th at 7pm in a hybrid-style. This means you’re welcome to join us in-person at First Olympia UMC or on our normal Zoom link.

If you're interested in either the screening and/or the discussion, please RSVP with this link.
