Can You Support Village Vans
Every week in our community, there are people whose dreams of steady work or higher education are blocked by one simple barrier: transportation. Without reliable transportation, a class that could change a life or a job that could support a family becomes impossible to reach.
Village Vans exists to break that barrier. As a program of Intercity Transit, serving Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater, we provide free rides for people who are working hard to build a better future. But we can’t do it alone. We’re asking for something both simple and profound, help us find those with a willing heart to serve. Volunteer drivers need a clean driving record and are able to give three or more hours a week. Volunteer drivers are given professional defensive driving training.
As a volunteer driver, they will help low-income workers, students, and parents get to work or school — and in turn, their help will change the lives of passengers, enabling them to take the next step toward self-sufficiency. We know your congregation’s time is precious. That’s why we offer support back to volunteers, too. Village Vans provides free job searching assistance to our volunteers that are seeking employment. This includes help with resumes, cover letters, and interview coaching.
If your faith calls you to serve “the least of these,” this is a tangible way to take action. Every mile driven is a mile toward hope and dignity for someone in our community. Please contact us at: 360-705-5840 to learn more or apply here.
Thank you for considering this quiet but life-changing work. Together we can make a real difference — one ride at a time.
